Waitrose Visit

On Monday 19th March Class 6 visited Waitrose as part of Healthy Schools Week. They were so keen to make the Savoury Pinwheel Scones again that I have posted the recipe. Happy and healthy cooking!

125g Strong White Bread Flour

25g Butter

2 tsps baking powder

1 tsp mixed dried herbs

1 tsp mustard powder

80 ml milk

3 slices ham

25 g cheese

Flour for shaping the dough

Preheat the oven to 220C. Cut a piece of baking parchment to fit a baking tin 18 x 22cm.

Put the flour in a bowl and rub in the butter using your finger tips.

Add the baking powder, dried mixed herbs and mustard powder. Mix well together.

Pour in the milk and using a table knife mix together to form a soft dough.

Sprinkle a little flour on the work surface and tip the dough onto it.

Pat the dough out into a rectangle about 1/2 cm thick.

Put the slices of ham on top and sprinkle with cheese.

Starting on the longer side of the rectangle, roll the dough up into a sausage shape.

Cut the roll into 6 even pieces.

Place them in the tin, evenly spaced on their side, so you can see the cheese and ham.

Bake in the hot oven for 10 to 15 minutes until risen and golden brown.
